Sam Oki

Sam was raised on his family’s nursery/greenhouse grounds and grew up observing and appreciating nature. From the time he was in junior high school, photography was a hobby and has stayed with him throughout his life. Although his photographs are typically landscape or travel oriented, his origins have a way of cropping up into his subject matter in the way of flowers and plants.

Originally a traditional old-school film photographer, Sam’s adeptness with technology made the transition to digital seamless. If you were to talk with him, he would say that digital technology has made him a better photographer by allowing him to more readily experiment with the making of images. Sam is also a flyfisher, a backpacker, and traveler, all of which are conducive to providing memorable photographic opportunities.
