The Conservancy recently acquired two additional properties, the 113.619 Bolen North tract and the 102.381-acre Bolen South tract. The acquisitions closed escrow on April 29, 2005. The property is adjacent to the Bennett North and Bennett South tracts, and further consolidates properties in the Conservancy’s North Basin Reserve Area.
The 216-acre combined tract brings to a total of over 4,000 acres owned by the Conservancy. Both properties lie in the Swainson’s hawk zone, but the Bolen North tract is on heavy rice soils, while the Bolen South tract includes about one-half heavy clay soils and one-half riverine soils. The properties will be submitted to the site-specific land management planning process, which will be completed in one year.
