The Natomas Basin Conservancy implements the Natomas Basin Habitat Conservation Plan (NBHCP) within the jurisdiction of the City of Sacramento, Sacramento County and Sutter County. The Conservancy collects mitigation fees to acquire, restore, and manage mitigation lands, provide habitat for protected species and to maintain agriculture in the Natomas Basin. Since the program inception, the Conservancy has acquired nearly 40 properties totaling over 5,000 acres to use in NBHCP implementation.
